More than just your Flintstone vitamins

Hello ladies,

Last night I went to a great seminar that highlighted the importance of taking probiotics and Omega 3's.  Probiotics are bacteria that help maintain the natural balance of organisms (microflora) in the intestines.  Probiotics may also be used to help prevent infections in the digestive tract,  help control immune response inflammation, and help those with diarrhea issues.  In addition, the speaker highlighted the importance of omega 3's. Omega-3 fatty acids are considered essential fatty acids. They are necessary for human health but the body can' t make them, so we have to get them through the food we eat. Unlike Omega 6 and 9 they are not easy to find in the American diet.  Omega-3 fatty acids can be found in fish, such as salmon, tuna, and halibut, other seafood including algae and krill, some plants, and nut oils.

Did you know that Omega 3's play a crucial role in brain function, as well as normal growth and development. They have also become popular because they may reduce the risk of heart disease. Who doesn't want a healthy and happy heart? In addition, they help reduce inflammation, boost the immune system and help protect us from an array of other illnesses. Americans don't get nearly as much omega 3's in their diets as opposed to people who live in other countries like Japan for example. Most American diets are packed with over processed junk that has no nutritional value and doesn't include an abundance of fish, vegetables, fruits and nuts.  You don't believe me? In the infamous words of George Bush, put the google on it and research!

Are you guys getting your daily dose of omega 3's and probiotics. I sure hope so. If not, go to your local health food stores and inquire into high quality products of each.

Anywho, check out last nights free yummy dinner. I am trying to be more creative with my foods. This dish includes a monk bean patty with French onions, squash, and carrots, sweet and sour veggies, sweet potato noodles and chicken with brown rice. I am on a serious search for monk beans. They are supposed to pack a powerful punch of protein! Anyone have any clues on where to find them let me know.  Peep the pictures below.

Check ya later,

Same bat-time same bat-channel
